This is an engaging performance that incorporates storytelling, music, history, world geography, musical puppets, and an array of unusual instruments. The intent is to get students to think about the origin of sound, musical instruments, and the creative process. The show is designed as a school assembly that begins with a traditional folk song accompanied by a banjo and dancing horse. The show evolves with a story about a cave person family that works to discover new sounds to enhance their music making. In the process students get to play instruments, sing songs, broaden their knowledge of world geography, and explore homemade and ethnic instruments with an eye toward what makes sound.
